Merlin State of the Art Carbon Fibre Dragon Boat Paddles and Accessories
Merlin Dragon Boat paddles are designed and tooled in Sydney by our parent company, Talon Technology, they have 20 years experience in advanced composites especially carbon fibre.
All our paddles, CD2 , TD2 and Ghost meet the stringent requirements of the IDBF 202a rule.
We believe in product improvement based on hard data and built the Merlin Excalibur Data paddle originally to test shaft strengths.
The Excalibur is a highly modified CD2 that is now the ultimate coaching tool.
Fitted with strain and positional sensors Excalibur enables the paddler to record almost every aspect of their stroke. The data is recorded to an onboard memory that can hold about 30 minutes of data at high resolution and about 90 minutes at normal resolution, this then is downloaded to a computer for display and analysis.
Analysis of the data is done using the included software, that also lets you examine and adjust the setting within the paddle.
The software has two options, you can view your files in a graphic format or you can run the analysis program that will enable you to compare the actual scores for things like maximum power, average work effort and best timing, between several paddlers.
Excalibur is a great tool for team selection as it does away with subjective judgements and makes the process fair and transparent.
EXCALIBUR NOW AVAILABLE TO HIRE
From the end of February 2009 it will be possible to rent an Excalibur paddle by the day. This is perfect for smaller clubs that want to do something like team selections or tune up a team for a major competition.
The cost in Australia is A$140 per day ( less for 3 days or more ) and we only charge for the actual days used, for instance if you want it for the weekend we would get it to you before Friday and you would need to courier back out on the Monday.
Outside of Australia, Excalibur is only available for hire from registered Merlin Distributors and Agents, not from Merlingear itself. Prices available on request.

Flags of the World
Here at Merlin we're always looking for new and innovative ideas for you, the Dragon boat Paddler. This year we're looking to add an extra dimension to our TD2 paddle range by producing a limited number of paddles with the blade featuring a national flag.
The design is put on as a water transfer at our factory, so it is effectively part of the blade materials and not a stick on vinyl transfer.
So here are our first fruits:

If you order 25 paddles or more it is possible to get both the Merlin CD2 and TD2 in your team colours. We can also add paddlers names and a simple club logo as an appliqué.
If you can order at least 50 paddles we can do even the most complex graphics at the factory.
