Carbon Fibre Dragon Boat Paddle

The Merlin CD2 paddle is our most popular paddle. It is light, stiff and durable with a nice balance achieved through reduced blade weight.

As with all Merlin paddles the shaft is the primary strength member and extends most of the length of the blade, this enables a smooth flex for the shaft and solves the perennial problem of how to join a shaft and blade when made separately.

The CD2 has a carbon blade that make the paddle very stiff , which is great for getting that positive reaction at the start of the stroke.
To avoid the problem of edge splitting, the blade materials are wrapped around the foam cores prior to moulding which gives a very durable edge and the CD2 is carefully balanced to avoid having the tip too heavy, a light paddle with a heavy tip is a very bad combination.

Much easier to control than the Ghost, the CD2 is a serious competition paddle.

The big difference between the CD2 and the TD2 is the blade construction. The TD2 uses a glass fibre blade which in the CD2 is carbon fibre. This make the tip of the TD2 much more flexible which is not a bad thing especialy if you have problems with your shoulder as it dramatically softens the stroke. It also make the TD2 a very easy paddle to control if you have poor lower hand strength.

CD2 paddles can be ordered in special colours as can the TD2 paddles.

The problem with having a team full of Merlin Paddles is... nothing, it is a great idea!! Okay one little problem, paddles get confused. Solve this by having your name put on your paddle when you order.

You can have any name up to ten letters including some common punctuation for an additional cost of about £10.

If you have a paddle already and would like to have a name, we can send it to you as an appliqué that you can put on yourself (it is hard to mess up). Add £5.00 postage costs.
