Glass Fibre Blade with Carbon Fibre Shaft
The Merlin TD2 paddle is a great paddle for competition paddlers looking for a paddle that is easy to control, yet has most of the benefits of our all carbon CD2.
As with all Merlin paddles the shaft is the primary strength member and extends most of the length of the blade, this enables a smooth flex for the shaft and solves the perennial problem of how to join a shaft and blade when made separately.
The TD2 has a glass fibre blade that gives the paddle flex in the last 50mm of the blade, this softens the start of the stroke allowing the paddler more time to get set. The tip springs back at the end of the stroke helping pull the paddle from the water.
TD2's are an excellent club paddle and can be ordered in special colours as can the CD2 paddles.

PRETTY IN PINK

The big difference between the CD2 and the TD2 is the blade construction. The TD2 uses a glass fibre blade which in the CD2 is carbon fibre. This make the tip of the TD2 much more flexible which is not a bad thing especialy if you have problems with your shoulder as it dramatically softens the stroke. It also make the TD2 a very easy paddle to control if you have poor lower hand strength.
